Frequently Asked Questions About Training
Q. What is Field Training?
A. Field Training is the only required training during your ROTC career, unless you are
a four year scholarship recipient. Field Training is four weeks of training at Maxwell AFB,
Alabama, during the summer between your sophomore and junior year.
Q. Can I plan other things during that summer, like summer classes or a job?
A. Yes, however, Field Training takes priority over other summer plans. There are six different
time slots each summer, and you will be put in one of them. This is not affected by your summer
plans and cannot be changed, so be cautious in planning events for that summer.
Q. Am I paid while at Field Training?
A. Yes, the Air Force realizes that the requirement of this summer training may make it
difficult to get a job during that summer. While at Field Training, you will be paid Training
Pay. The current rate is approximately 27 dollars/day.
